Crab Walk on the Beach Quilt....

This is a simple patchwork quilt I made for my Mum.  It features Emily Herrick's fabric line, Going Coastal.  I quilted it with organic wavy lines about an inch or so apart throughout.  On the back I added blocks with lighthouses from another fabric in my scrap bin to bring out more of the Cape Cod look.  This one lives in Harwich Port on Mum's couch.

The Poppy Quilt.

This is by far my favorite quilt I've made.  It features Laura Gunn's fabric from her poppy collection.
Above is a photo of the back.  And below.................
The front.

Found poem......

On Finishing an Old Quilt Top

Dear unknown lady of the past,
I hold your work within my hands;
A top with pattern gay and pure,
A frayed edge reveals loose strands.
The design is made of tiny scraps,
Set in a plain sugar sack ground.
Such tiny little stitches made -
A soft blue border around.
Where did you sit while piecing this?
Upon a stool by firelight bright?
Or slowly rocking on the porch
As the tired day drew into night?
What were your cares while you did work?
What plans and dreams did you spin?
I wonder why your work was stopped.
Why quilting never did begin.
My mind is filled with questions.
Were you just a girl or someone's wife?
Was yours a path of leisure?
Or a journey filled with strife?
I'll quilt this top, dear lady,
With patterns swirled and flowery,
And bond with one I'll never meet
In a sisterhood of stitchery.

Finishing quilts

Sorry for the dark photo.
This one was a quilt top done by my mother in law.  I found it in her bins.  I finished it for my father in law for a Christmas present.  Her piecing is lovely, as always.  I am looking for a poem I saw in a quilt shop about working on someone's quilts that has passed away.  Does anyone know this one?
